Super Smash Bros. Crusade is a fun and free game designed and developed by hardcore Smash Bros fans. This indie game is a new form of the hugely popular Nintendo game. 

If you're tired of the old version but don't want to let go just yet of the characters, then this is the game for you. 

Everything about the title, from audio to visuals, is unique. Created by three gamers, the installment doesn’t have any original Nintendo code. While the game has basic moves, the lively characters generate different animations for the action sequences.

Plenty of fun animations and moves to keep you engaged

Super Smash Bros download is part of a venture built from scratch by three fans, namely Dr. MarioX, Falcon8r, and Phantom7. With this PC game, the goal was to develop a title with multiple stages and characters, including the most loved ones from all video games. 

So, you'll find that this program delivers an experience that includes interesting characters and features from the immensely popular Smash Bros. series.

What about the storyline?

Each character is a fighter who represents some part of the universe. Once you launch the game, you’ll be able to choose from at least 8 different characters. Each one has unique moves that generate engaging animations on the screen. Thirty-seven characters are veteran fighters belonging to various versions of the Super Smash Bros Game series.

You can choose from two different types of characters depending on their availability. These include Starters who are available right from the beginning and Unlockable who require unique methods and upgrades to be used. While the indie game is pixelated, it takes a different approach for visuals from similar titles like Minecraft, Super Smash Battle 3D, and Super Smash Flash 2.

How’s the gameplay?

The primary objective of the game is to beat other characters by causing damage and throwing them out of the battleground or arena. Each player comes with a set ‘power’, represented by a number on the screen. On launching attacks in Super Smash Bros. Crusade, characters can fly off the stage.

When characters receive a good amount of damage, again depicted by the percentage, it gets easy to knock them out. 

In this particular game, the mechanics are quite similar to other Smash Bros. versions. However, the title comes with extra elements inspired by popular fighting games.

What are the game modes?

In Super Smash Bros download, there are two primary game modes, i.e., Crusade and Single Player Mode. The second one focuses on ‘Board the Platforms’ and ‘Break the Targets’, which have been included in the official versions of the Nintendo game. Other game modes are also important and focus on different elements in the game.

Before you start playing the Classic mode, you can specify the difficulty and number of lives. In case you lose all your lives, the round is over and you’ve lost the game. While you may choose to continue, the game deducts one-third of your scores.

Also, the Windows game keeps the score throughout the Classic mode but awards it only at the end of each battle. At times, you also get bonuses, depending on your moves and battles. There’s a special bonus for winning a match without receiving any ‘blows’.

You also get a ‘No-Miss’ bonus, which is awarded to players for clearing a round without losing any lives. If you’re on a winning streak, this bonus amount keeps on increasing.

Break the Targets

In this game mode of Super Smash Bros. Crusade, you can go ahead and try the ‘Break the Targets’ game. This is a bonus addition where the objective is to cause damage to characters in red.

Story Mode

The development team has been working on a Story mode for quite some time. While it’s not yet finished, it will probably take inspiration from the official Super Smash Bros game.

Versus Mode

Crusade or Versus Mode is the most fun and requires you to follow custom settings and rules to play different kinds of battles. You can press ‘A’ for accessing VS Settings before you head on to the character screen of the indie game.

Stock Match

Super Smash Bros download comes with a Stock Match mode, which is like the ‘last character standing’ version of popular battleground arenas. All of the players have a specific number of lives, and the one remaining, in the end, wins the round.

Time Match

Super Smash Bros game also has a Time Match, where you receive scores on the basis of falls, self-destructing moves, and KOs. After the time limit has expired, the player with the highest score wins the stage.

Stamina Match

The Stamina Mode of the Windows game is like a survival match. Each player gets some ‘Health Points’, which get depleted over time. The match requires you to inflict enough damage on other characters to be able to knock them out of the arena.

Since the release, Super Smash Bros. Crusade has been appreciated for having nearly identical moves to the official Nintendo version. The gameplay is also fun and keeps you engaged with a unique storyline. 

Depending on your preferences, you can choose from multiple game modes, so you can play solo or with friends. The game runs smoothly on different versions of Windows OS and doesn’t take much time for installation.

A good game for hardcore fans

In comparison to other versions of the popular Super Smash Bros. game, this installment may look pale. The pixelated graphics seem monotonous after a while. But if you’re a die-hard fan of these games, Super Smash Bros download is definitely a good choice. The development team keeps adding patches and bug fixes on a regular basis. Moreover, the unique characters aren’t available in official versions and keep you engaged for hours in one go.
